What to check before you pay

  1. Which kinds of homes do you need? Some services only search free-sector rentals. If you also want social housing, 55+ homes or homes for sale, check whether the service offers that.
  2. How fast are alerts? For popular homes every minute counts. Check what the service promises and whether the free version differs.
  3. Can you try it free or get a refund? Read the cancellation and refund terms.
  4. Do you have to pay the source site to reply? Some rental sites charge their own subscription before you can respond.
  5. How does it handle fake listings? Never pay before you've seen a home; see how to spot a rental scam.
