Average rent in the Netherlands
According to the Pararius Huurmonitor Q3 2026, new tenants in the free sector paid on average €1,914 per month in the third quarter of 2026, or €20.92 per m², 4.4% more per m² than a year earlier. Apartments averaged €22.61 per m², family homes €16.70.

Room rents for students
Kamernet's Q2 2026 report puts the average student room at €643 per month nationally, up 6.2% on a year earlier. Amsterdam is the most expensive at a median of €950, followed by Utrecht (€775).
